Cataracts in both eyes are typically treated a few weeks apart to allow one eye to heal before operating on the second.
An artificial intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted to replace the cloudy lens. There are different types of IOLs depending on your vision needs.
Traditional cataract surgery takes 10–20 minutes per eye. Laser-assisted procedures may take longer due to imaging and setup, though both offer quick recovery timelines.
Traditional surgery uses manual instruments to remove the cataract, while laser-assisted surgery uses a femtosecond laser for added precision during certain steps.
